Optional Insurance & Other Employee Programs
We’ve Got You Covered
We believe our employees should feel secure about their future. University Health offers employees a wide range of insurance and disability plans and other programs designed to help employees and their families plan ahead.
Short-Term Disability Insurance
Employees have the option of purchasing short-term disability insurance to protect themselves from loss of income during the first six months of disability, pending the start of long-term disability or social security disability, if applicable.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
Employees have the option of purchasing long-term disability insurance at a rate of 50% or 60% coverage. Long-term disability insurance provides income protection for eligible employees who are unable to work for a long period of time following a serious health condition or injury.
Group Term Life Insurance
All regular full-time and part-time (20 hours minimum) employees are covered under group term life insurance. A term insurance policy in the amount of $25,000 is paid for by University Health, and an employee may purchase optional life insurance up to seven times their salary at a group rate. Accidental death and dismemberment coverage is included free of charge.
Dependent Group Life Insurance
Employees eligible for life insurance can purchase up to $50,000 of coverage for their spouse and up to $25,000 of coverage for each child.
Universal Life Insurance
In addition to the group life insurance, employees (20 hours minimum) have the option of purchasing group universal life insurance for themselves and their families. This insurance can continue when the employee leaves University Health, with no increase in premium. Universal life also builds cash value.
Cancer, Dread Disease, Intensive Care Unit Coverage
Eligible employees have the option of purchasing basic cancer insurance or enhanced cancer insurance. This insurance pays a lump sum cash benefit that can assist with medical expenses and living expenses.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees are eligible to establish pre-tax spending accounts to pay for dependent care and healthcare costs with pretax dollars. Participation is voluntary.
