University Health Vida

Vida Hospital RenderingUniversity Health Vida officially broke ground on December 13, 2023, and will be our new primary care and multi-specialty health center on the South Side. This modern three-story building, located on Jaguar Parkway across from Texas A&M University - San Antonio, will also be the new home of the University Health Institute for Public Health. Expected to open in 2025, this center will ensure residents on San Antonio’s South Side have access to health education, preventive health services and community resources, along with primary care, specialty care and mental health services. It will be the first building to open on University Health’s 68-acre Palo Alto Campus at the intersection of South Zarzamora and Jaguar Parkway. University Health Vida is partially funded with American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds allocated by the Bexar County Commissioners Court in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Community Hospitals

University Health Palo Alto Hospital

University Health Community Hospital Rendering Right next door to Vida, a new state-of-the-art facility, University Health Palo Alto Hospital, broke ground on January 18, 2024. It will include a 24/7 emergency department and labor & delivery unit, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, a neonatal intensive care unit/nursery, and inpatient units for both adults and children. The hospital will open in 2026-27 with 166 beds and is designed to expand to 286 beds as this area continues to grow. To make it even more convenient for patients, a connected 100,000-square-foot medical office building will offer appointments for a wide range of medical and surgical specialists.

University Health Retama Hospital

University Health Retama Hospital renderingAlong the I-35 corridor north of Loop 1604, we broke ground on February 21, 2024, for University Health Retama Hospital. Located next to the Retama Park Horse Track in Selma, the new hospital is expected to open in 2026-27. This community hospital also includes a 24/7 emergency department, labor and delivery unit, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, neonatal intensive care unit/nursery, and inpatient units for both adults and children. The hospital will open in 2026-27 with 140 beds and is designed to expand to 286 beds as this area continues to grow. To make it even more convenient for patients, a connected 100,000-square-foot medical office building will offer appointments for a wide range of medical and surgical specialists.

University Health Wheatley

University Health Wheatly RenderingOn the East Side, University Health Wheatley will be another site for the University Health Institute for Public Health, providing the community with primary and multi-specialty care, as well as health education and preventive health services. This modern building, located near the Wheatley Heights Sports Complex, was also partially funded with ARPA funds allocated by the Bexar County Commissioners Court. We broke ground for the Wheatley health center on May 9, 2024, and will open in 2025-26.
