There has been a lot of talk surrounding an outbreak of measles in West Texas. Measles is very contagious, but the good news is that the MMR vaccine is very effective to prevent infection.

Dr. Jason Bowling, University Health’s Chief of Epidemiology, answers some of the most commonly asked questions like how can you protect yourself, is the vaccine safe and effective, and what should I do if I don’t have my vaccine record?

In a separate video, we sat down with Dr. Bowling to answer questions surrounding the disease, how it spreads and the potential complications.

Opening in 2026, the 3-story, 60,000-square-foot Vida will be home to the Institute for Public Health. This multi-specialty health care center will be the first building on the University Health Palo Alto Campus on the city's South Side.
