University Health’s Women’s Heart Center is the first of its kind in South Texas. Our center is dedicated to diagnosing and treating heart disease in women in all stages of life.
Heart Disease in Women
Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women in the United States, yet many women don’t know they’re at risk.
Our goal is to help women understand their risk factors and take charge of their heart health early. We offer comprehensive heart screenings and risk assessments tailored for women.
Maternal Health
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in pregnant women and postpartum women. Because pregnancy can affect the heart in so many ways, we have a dedicated multispecialty team, led by Dr.Ildiko Agoston, a cardio-obstetrics specialist at University Health.
If you are pregnant and experiencing heart conditions, you will have access to physicians in the following specialties:
They will work together to provide personalized care and support to both mother and baby through every step of a high-risk pregnancy.
Excellence in Women's Heart Care
Our team provides expert, compassionate care with a focus on early detection, prevention and personalized treatment. At the Women’s Heart Center, we’re here to support women through every stage of life — including pregnancy — and to raise awareness about the signs, risks and realities of heart disease in women.
