- Confirm, cancel or reschedule appointments
- Accept or decline appointment wait list offers
- Pay a bill
- Set up a payment plan
Will this cost me anything?
Standard text messaging rates from your carrier may apply. There are no additional charges from University Health.
How do appointment text messages work?
University Health patients will receive an appointment notification text message when an appointment is scheduled. You will also receive an appointment confirmation text message two days before your appointment if it has not already been confirmed. Patients should review the date and time of each appointment and use the prompts provided in the message to either confirm, reschedule or cancel the appointment.
If you are seeking a different appointment time and have been put on the waitlist by a University Health team member, you may receive additional text messages offering a different appointment time and/or date. By using the prompts provided in the text message, you can either accept (reschedule) or decline the new appointment. If you choose to reschedule, the new appointment slot will replace your original scheduled appointment. If you decline the new appointment offer, you will continue to remain on the waitlist until you complete your appointment or are removed from the waitlist.
What if I don't respond to the appointment confirmation text?
If you don’t respond, your appointment remains scheduled.
Will I still get phone and email reminders?
Text messages are an additional option and won’t replace your existing MyChart communication preferences such as email reminders. You may receive an appointment reminder call from your University Health clinic.
To review your existing communication preferences, please go to your MyChart and from the menu, navigate to Account Settings > Communication Preferences.
Can I communicate directly with my provider using text messaging?
No. If you'd like to send a message directly to your provider, you can do so through the MyChart app or website.
How do I make sure I receive text messages for a specific notification?
You can update your communication preferences in University Health’s MyChart patient portal by selecting “Communications Preferences” from the main menu. From there, you will be able to subscribe to text messages and select the type of notifications you’d like to receive.
Do I need internet access or a smartphone to text with University Health?
No. You only need to be able to send and receive text messages.
