Purpose and Description
Pharmacy residency programs build on PharmD education to develop clinical pharmacists responsible for medication related patient care outcomes, pharmacotherapy optimization, and interdisciplinary collaboration for patients with a wide range of conditions. Residents are mentored and assessed on their progress as defined by the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives as described by ASHP.
The University Health PGY1 pharmacy residency program provides a well-rounded training environment, with a wide range of experiences among diverse patient populations in both inpatient and ambulatory care areas in a large academic health system. Graduates of the program will be prepared for employment as a clinical pharmacist within a health system, a PGY2 specialty pharmacy residency, board certification, and an adjunctive pharmacy faculty position. University Health is proud to achieve more than 20 years providing a challenging PGY1 residency!
