Your First Visit

Work with an expert transplant team at University Health to decide if lung transplantation is the best treatment for your lung condition.

Your Care Referral

If your doctor refers you to University Health Transplant Institute, that means you will meet with our team to explore lung transplant surgery. It does not yet mean you are a transplant candidate.

What to Expect

Your first appointment at the University Health Transplant Institute includes:

  • Introduction to our transplant team and care team
  • Overview of our patient care process
  • Six-minute walk test
  • Physical exam
  • Review of your medical history and previous imaging tests
  • Time to ask questions

Next Steps

If your transplant doctor decides you may be eligible for a lung transplant, your next step is to start the evaluation and testing process. Your pre-transplant coordinator will schedule a series of tests. The tests will begin within about two weeks.
