Diagnosing ENT Problems
Your doctor will ask you some questions about your symptoms to determine which tests to run. They may ask how long you have experienced symptoms and if you’ve ever had them before.
Your doctor may issue one or more of the following tests:
- Advanced imaging (CT, MRI or PET scans)
- Audiogram (hearing test)
- Biopsies of suspicious lesions of the face, mouth, throat or neck
- Hearing aid screenings
- Laryngoscopy uses a camera to look at the inside of your throat and voice box (larynx)
- Nasal endoscopy uses a thin tube with a light and camera attached to it to allow your doctor to examine the inside of your nose and sinuses
- Thyroid and neck ultrasound
