Say Hello to the first baby born at the University Health Women’s & Children’s Hospital

We are thrilled to share that Parker Lee Speer was born to proud parents Jessica and David Speer at the University Health Women’s & Children’s Hospital today, the first baby on the first day the new hospital began serving patients! Parker weighed 8 lbs. 15 oz. and arrived at 12:59 p.m. She will join three brothers who are excited about having a sister.

The Women’s & Children’s Hospital is on the University Health Main Campus, 4502 Medical Drive in San Antonio, adjacent to University Hospital. The new state-of-the-art facility provides women, children and babies with all the experts and technologies necessary to provide the highest level of compassionate care. The 14-story, 300-bed hospital is the new home of University Health’s Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal Center featuring spacious labor and delivery suites and large postpartum rooms for children like Parker Lee and her parents.

“We are all celebrating with the Speer family as they welcomed Parker Lee today. The birth of the first baby at the new hospital is a culmination of months of hard work and planning that highlights University Health’s commitment to serve the unique needs of women and children in Bexar County and South Texas,” said Dr. Michael Gardner, vice president and administrator of University Health Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
