About
Originally from Ohio, I completed medical school at Wright State University before matching at UT Health San Antonio for internal medicine residency. It was here that I became fascinated with cardiology. I spent a year after residency as the Chief Resident for Quality and Safety for the internal medicine program. During that time I was exposed to academic medicine and gained experience in graduate medical education.
I matched with UT Health San Antonio for cardiology fellowship and continued to teach and be involved with both the medical school and internal medicine residency. Immediately following graduation, I had the opportunity to join the faculty as a general cardiologist.
Since joining the faculty, I have gained board certification in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, and hold testamur status in comprehensive echocardiography. My current positions within the division include associate program director for the cardiovascular disease fellowship and cardiac care unit director for University Hospital.
Research Interests:
My interests include heart failure readmission reduction, quality improvement, medical education and non-invasive imaging.
Philosophy of Care Statement:
I believe in treating each patient with the utmost dignity and respect. I try to remember that the person in front of me is not just another patient encounter for the day but is someone's child, parent or spouse.
Interests & Hobbies:
I enjoy hiking outdoors with my wife and our pet Bernedoodle whenever the weather permits. We recently welcomed a baby boy into our lives and are proud new parents.
