About
I am a cardiologist who specializes in cardiovascular imaging. I am a Professor of Medicine in the Cardiology Division at UT Health San Antonio.
I am a staff physician at University Hospital, Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital, UT Health Physicians and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Medical Center. Dr. Erikson is the Medical Director of the University Hospital Non-Invasive Laboratories.
After completing my undergraduate study in biochemistry at North Texas State University, I attended medical and graduate school at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where I received my M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. I completed my residency training at Parkland Memorial Hospital.
I completed cardiology training at Southwestern Medical Center and received advanced echocardiography training at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes Hospital.
I then joined the faculty at UT Health San Antonio, where I participate in patient care, teaching and clinical research. I have been elected to Fellowship in the American College of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography and the American Heart Association.
I received grant support from the Texas Affiliate of the American Heart Association to study proinflammatory cytokines in acute ischemia/reperfusion. I also investigate novel delivery techniques for gene therapy in acute settings.
Research Interests:
My current research and clinical interests include non-invasive imaging, valvular heart disease and percutaneous valve therapies.
