Teaching kids how to be safe on their feet on International Walk to School Day
BACKGROUND: What does it mean when you see white lights next to red tail lights on a car? Which way do you look before crossing a street? (Hint: it’s not a trick question!) University Health and Safe Kids San Antonio will visit De Zavala Elementary on Wednesday morning to teach kids how to be safe when walking to school — or anywhere else they might encounter traffic. On hand will be Vision Zero San Antonio representatives with the City of San Antonio and volunteers from FedEx to do a show-and-tell presentation for students on pedestrian safety. More than 40 countries participate in International Walk to School Day to encourage safe routes to school for kids all over the world.
