Toyota Texas and University Health Foundation Drive Community Impact in South San Antonio Through Increased Access to Health Resources
Major gift supports new community space and public health partnerships at University Health Vida
University Health Foundation is proud to announce a generous grant from Toyota Texas to support community access to health resources at the new University Health Vida located on San Antonio’s South Side. The “Toyota Drives Mobility for All” room will serve as a gathering space for families to learn more about health and address social issues that impact their health. The room will host events and organizations that provide new resources, facilitate connections and learning opportunities and will serve as a venue for educational programs, workshops and outreach.
The gift is part of the ROOTED Campaign, a multi-year, comprehensive fundraising campaign that anchors University Health’s historic $1.7 billion capital improvement project to expand access to care and improve the overall health of Bexar County residents.
“We are incredibly grateful to Toyota Texas for their investment in University Health Vida and ROOTED,” said Sara Alger, president of University Health Foundation. “ROOTED will help fund the development and growth of transformative projects that build on University Health’s clinical excellence, while addressing access to care and non-medical drivers of health.”
University Health Vida opened in November 2025 as a new, state-of-the-art health facility in South Bexar County that directly addresses community health needs by improving access to care, tackling health disparities and promoting overall wellness. The three-story center, located at 3611 Jaguar Parkway, is home to primary and urgent care services as well as multiple programs and departments, including the University Health Institute for Public Health. It also features dedicated spaces for collaboration with local private and nonprofit organizations to advance shared public health goals, including the “Toyota Drives Mobility for All” room.
“Toyota Texas has invested in San Antonio and the South Side for more than 20 years,” said Frank Voss, president of Toyota Texas and group vice president of truck manufacturing for Toyota Motor North America. “This area has grown and changed over the last two decades, and we recognize the increased demand for health care services that comes with that growth. Our support of the community space within University Health Vida reflects our deeply rooted commitment to the ongoing vitality of this region, and we are proud to be part of their impact in Bexar County.”
Toyota has been a cornerstone of southern Bexar County, bringing jobs and vitality to the area since 2003. As part of its commitment to local, sustainable development initiatives, Toyota Texas has given more than $300,000 to University Health since 2019. Their investment in University Health reflects a shared vision to ensure neighboring children, families and seniors have health resources and opportunities to thrive for generations to come.
