Baby, the next 300 years are looking sweet
Mission San Antonio de Valero, later known as The Alamo, was founded on May 1, 1718. Soon after, Presidio San Antonio de Bexár was established to protect the new mission. Three hundred years to the day later, the City of San Antonio, Bexar County and University Health System are commemorating the past and considering our future in the company of one of the first newborns of the next 300 years. The ceremony is an opportunity to reflect on our community’s complex history while asking ourselves what kind of city we want to be going forward. We know that carrying on that legacy in the next generation is a big job, but the entire community is with our Tricentennial baby!
