Pet therapy volunteers deliver Valentines love to University Hospital children

What better way to celebrate this Valentine’s Day week than with a little puppy love – or kitty love, for that matter? That is what our pet therapy teams will be sharing on Tuesday, Feb. 11, when furry volunteers deliver handmade valentines to children in University Hospital.

Our Volunteer Services department currently works with about 15 dog and cat teams trained to provide love and bedside comfort to patients and staff who may need a little TLC. Research has shown that when pets visit, patients have less pain, reduced anxiety and more energy. Petting or nuzzling with therapy animals puts a smile on a sick child’s face.

Media are invited to join our pet teams as they deliver the valentines and share the kind of love that only comes in a fur coat.
