University Health once again named a San Antonio top workplace

For the second year in a row, University Health has been named to the San Antonio Express-News’ annual list of top places to work in San Antonio. This recognition is based solely on results of a third-party confidential survey sent to University Health’s team members.

Out of the more than 1,800 local companies invited to participate and feedback provided by some 46,000 employees across participating organizations, the Express-News identified 109 companies as 2024 Top Workplaces, across three categories – small, medium and large employers. With more than 12,000 team members, University Health was recognized in the large employer category.

The confidential survey, administered by Energage, LLC, measures 15 drivers that are critical to the success of any organization. Questions relate to employee experience, pay, benefits and organizational culture, including whether employees feel respected and supported, given opportunities to grow, and empowered to make decisions and execute on plans. Organizations with scores that exceed national benchmarks receive the Top Workplace recognition. The benchmarks are based on some 30 million employee surveys over 18 years.

“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “That's something to be proud of. In today's market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That's paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”

“Our teams are routinely honored for their innovations and patient outcomes, but none of the awards we receive are more important than being recognized for our success in building a work environment where team members can thrive,” said Edward Banos, University Health president and CEO.“ Our employees are truly our greatest asset, and we know that when a health care team truly feels supported, valued and connected to our mission, it translates into high quality and compassionate care for our patients.”
