Turning blue for World Diabetes Day

More than 400 million people worldwide have diabetes, with 300,000 of them living in Bexar County. The disease can lead to blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks and amputations. At 5 p.m. the Texas Diabetes Institute will “go blue” along with buildings around the world to raise awareness about this epidemic. The community is invited to come out for healthy snacks and information on diabetes prevention. Also on site will be the San Antonio Food Bank’s Mobile Mercado.
