- Traumatic brain injury
What to Expect
Your child’s care team will make every effort to ease your concerns and make you and your child feel comfortable.
Depending on the referral information and previous tests, you may see a pediatric nurse practitioner or physician assistant (advanced practice provider) at your first appointment. He or she will gather more medical information about your child’s problem and schedule specific imaging tests.
Imaging Tests
Imaging tests help diagnose or confirm a condition. You’ll get a thorough explanation of your child’s condition from your doctor and talk about the best treatment options. Testing may include:
- Brain and spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Head computed tomography (CT)
- Head ultrasound – Uses sound waves to take pictures of the brain and the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord
Take advantage of the long-term care and unique relationship you build with your child’s pediatric neurosurgeon. We’ll provide care as long as your child needs it.
