About
I am a pediatric neurosurgeon at University Hospital. I joined the UT Health San Antonio Department of Neurosurgery in February of 2015.
I obtained my medical degree from Université de Sherbrooke in Canada and completed my residency in neurological surgery at Université Laval in Québec City, Canada. I went on to complete a postgraduate fellowship in Pediatric Neurological Surgery at Northwestern University/Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. I am board certified by both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery.
My skill set focuses on the management of spinal dysraphism and congenital malformations of the central nervous system, such as spinal bifida, spasticity, hydrocephalus, intracranial arachnoid cysts, pediatric neuro-trauma, pediatric neuro-oncology, vascular malformations and epilepsy.
One of my foremost research goals is to redefine the standard of care for children afflicted with tethered spinal cord syndrome. I am currently collaborating with pediatric urologists regarding the use of preoperative urodynamic studies in this patient population.
I am currently working to further develop the pediatric neurosurgery program in San Antonio and the South Texas region. I aim to build a comprehensive, multidisciplinary tethered cord clinic and a multidisciplinary spasticity clinic and establish an all-volunteer program to perform neurosurgical procedures for children in underprivileged regions of the world.
I enjoy teaching medical students and residents. I am a member of the following organizations: The International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, The American Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, The American Association of Neurological Surgeons and The Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons. Additionally, I am fluent in English, French and Polish.
